The Kuhlmann K500 is a classic, high-precision German universal tool sharpening machine (Universal-Werkzeugschleifmaschine). It is constructed from solid cast iron to dampen all vibrations and ensure micron accuracy when sharpening router bits, drills and industrial blades. The work table can be rotated horizontally by ±45° to ±90° (depending on the accompanying equipment) for sharpening at specific angles.

Images show a unique machine configuration with a special copier. Specifically, technicians mount a camshaft directly onto the longitudinal table. Consequently, this advanced setup completely changes the standard universal mode. Furthermore, the new system optimizes the machine for two distinct tasks. First, the unit performs precise profiling. For this purpose, the camshaft dictates the exact back-and-forth table movement. Simultaneously, the mechanism eliminates purely manual induction guidance. Second, the system handles mass sharpening of serial knives. Therefore, this setup ideally processes profile knives and industrial tools. As a result, every tooth receives an identical back angle and height.
