Firstly, a solid cast-iron base forms the foundation, effectively neutralizing vibrations during the grinding process. The system relies on a 2.2 kW grinding head motor (2800 rpm) which drives a 150 mm diameter cup grinding wheel. Furthermore, the grinding head moves along precise linear guides protected from dust and coolant, ensuring longevity and constant accuracy. A 0.33 kW motor powers the head movement at 1400 rpm. Additionally, the worktable features a magnetic base for firm blade fixation. The tilting mechanism allows angle adjustments from 0° to 90°, enabling the processing of diverse blade profiles.

Users define the total material removal and the feed per pass (from 0.001 mm to 0.1 mm). To maintain quality, an integrated cooling system constantly supplies emulsion to the contact zone, preventing overheating and thermal deformation of the blade material.

The intuitive control panel provides the operator with total process control. Notably, the “Spark-out” function stands out; the machine performs several extra passes without feed after reaching final depth to achieve perfect surface quality. Consequently, the automatic work cycle significantly reduces the need for constant supervision. The operator simply positions the knife, sets the parameters, and starts the process. Finally, the machine stops automatically after the cycle, increasing workshop efficiency.
Application and maintenance:
Experts value the AF 1000 for its versatility. Besides standard HSS knives, the machine expertly processes carbide (Widia) blades using Borazon or diamond wheels.
