What is pranking?

Planing is a process of precise cutting and shaping of corner connections (cuts) on wooden beams or forms. These connections allow the logs to fit perfectly into each other at an angle (most often 90 degrees). This creates a stable, windproof and solid wall without the use of nails.

The working principle is based on the precise mechanical removal of excess wood from precisely defined positions. The process takes place through the following steps:
Positioning and fixing: The workpiece (log or beam) is placed on the work table or counter of the machine. Pneumatic or mechanical clamps firmly fix the wood to prevent any movement during operation.
Main drive: Electric motors (like the blue motor visible in the picture) drive the high speed cutting tools.
Profiling and cutting: Specially profiled cutters or chains penetrate the wood. The machine makes vertical, horizontal or arc cuts following the given connection profile.
Cable guidance and automation: Flexible energy chains (so-called tracks, visible on the top of the machine) protect electrical cables and hoses during the movement of the cutting heads left-right or up-down.
Joint Forming: Tools simultaneously or in sequences make the male/female part of the joint, ensuring an ideal fit.
